Beyond Barriers

Support the 2018 Interpreter Club Biannual Conference

Interpreter Club A Project of Bloomsburg University Foundation, Inc.

Lend a Helping Hand

The BU Interpreter Club will be hosting our Biannual Conference next semester and we need your help to make it the best one yet. Held on the BU campus, this event brings together interpreters and students from a variety of locations to experience two days of events and workshops.

Past conferences have included performers, deaf authors, relevant workshops, networking opportunities for students and an interpreter agency fair. Most of the workshops taking place even offer free CEU's. All of these opportunities are exciting, but they come at a cost. We need to raise $6,000 to cover the expenses involved in hosting the conference. That sounds like a lot, but if every Interpreter Club alumni and current member donates or raises just $50, we can hit our goal in no time.

BU's Interpreting Club provides support to students who are interpreting majors, as well as other majors, by providing opportunities to become involved in the deaf community while furthering their education through trips, workshops, special events and interacting.

The club seeks to provide hands-on real-life interpreting workshops and training in a supervised environment, providing and allowing the formation on ongoing networking of professional interpreters and student interpreters. We strive to provide awareness among person who are deaf or hard of hearing, as well as the general hearing public.
